CYCLOOCTA-1,5-DIENE HAS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME TOXIC PROPERTIES AS DESCRIBED... FOR CYCLODODECA-1,5,9-TRIENE /WHICH/...ON SKIN OF ANIMALS...CAUSES SEVERE CONTACT DERMATITIS & READILY INDUCES SENSITIZATION.

CYCLOOCTA-1,5-DIENE HAS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME TOXIC PROPERTIES AS DESCRIBED... FOR CYCLODODECA-1,5,9-TRIENE /WHICH/...ON EYES OF RABBITS...CAUSED IMMEDIATE SIGNS OF IRRITATION WITH MILD CONJUNCTIVITIS WHICH FADED WITHIN 48 HR. MAIN EFFECT WAS ON LIDS, WHICH BECAME RED & SWOLLEN WITH ACCOMPANYING DISCHARGE.

CYCLOOCTA-1,5-DIENE CAUSED MORPHOLOGICAL CHANGES AND ALTERED THE EPIDERMAL ARGINASE ACTIVITY WHEN APPLIED TO GUINEA PIG SKIN. COMPOUNDS WITH 5 TO 12 CARBON ATOMS INCREASED ENZYME ACTIVITY IN PROPORTION TO THEIR MOLECULAR WEIGHT.
