IN RATS INHIBITION OF CALCIUM 2+ ABSORPTION WAS FUNCTION OF PHOSPHATE DOSE UNTIL A VALUE WAS REACHED ABOVE WHICH NO ADDITIONAL INHIBITORY EFFECT WAS OBSERVED.

THE EFFECTIVE /DIETARY/ LEVELS OF PHOSPHATES ARE USUALLY 0.5% OR LESS. WHEN THIS LEVEL ... WAS CONSUMED IN DIETS OF MANY ANIMALS, IT WAS SHOWN TO BE NONTOXIC. /PHOSPHATES/
